Dr Peter Palmer
Having read Modern History at University College London, Peter Palmer wrote a doctoral thesis on the Communists and the Catholic Church in former Yugoslavia. He has spent several extended periods in former Yugoslavia since 1990. As well as carrying out historical research in Zagreb, Belgrade and Ljubljana, he was an occasional freelance journalist and was Yugoslav Section Editor of the East European Reporter. He has worked for Oxford Analytica as East Europe Editor and as an editor/ economist with the Economist Intelligence Unit, in both cases specialising on the countries of former Yugoslavia and Albania. He worked in the ICG�s Sarajevo office in 1998, working on Bosnia and Croatia. In 1999-2000 he was spokesperson of the OSCE Mission in Croatia. Then, after participating in a project for the European Stability Initiative in Montenegro, he re-joined the ICG in October 2000 as a senior analyst based in Podgorica.
