Vikram Parekh

Vikram Parekh joined the International Crisis Group as Senior Analyst with its Afghanistan/South Asia Project in October 2002. Prior to joining ICG, Parekh spent five years as a researcher with Human Rights Watch, and three-and-a-half years as program coordinator for Asia at the Committee to Protect Journalists. Raised in San Francisco, Parekh graduated with an honors degree in politics in 1989 at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1993, Parekh received a juris doctor from Rutgers Law School and the school’s G.A. Moore Prize for distinguished work in civil rights law. He has traveled extensively in Afghanistan, researching human rights conditions and security developments, and is now based in Kabul.
