Boris Kashnikov

Boris Kashnikov joined ICG in May 2003. Before that he served as a professor in the rank of a colonel at the Moscow University of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD). He was a Fulbright professor at Ohio State University (1996-1997) and at Emory University (1999-2000). His field of research are political and moral philosophy, history and criminology with the focus on the Theory of Justice. His publications include a book “Moral Constraints on War”, written in co-authorship, several co edited books and a number of articles. In 1989, he served in USSR peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh. He took part in 1993-1994 as a civil police station commander with a UN mission in the former Yugoslavia. He is on the advisory board of the Journal of Military Ethics of the Norwegian Military Academy. Fluent in English, speaks some French and Serbian.
