Mark Wheeler
Mark Wheeler was born in Chicago in 1948.� He studied history at the Universities of Michigan (BA 1970) and Cambridge (PhD 1978) and taught East European and Balkan�history at the Universities of Lancaster (1975-83) and London (1983-94).��Between 1994 and 1997, he worked for HelpAge International, the Institute for War and Peace Reporting and the United Nations in Croatia and Bosnia, returning to an academic post at the University of Derby in the latter year.� He joined the International Crisis Group as Bosnia Project Director in April 2001.� He is the author of numerous works on the history and politics of the former Yugoslavia, particularly on the Second World War.
