Monika Shepherd
Monika Shepherd has been involved in research in Central Asia since 1989 when she spend the first of two years in Central Asia. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Boston University, specializing in the post-Soviet
politics and international relations of Central Asia. She is fluent in German and Russian, with some knowledge as well of Uzbek and Tajik. She received her MA in International Relations from Boston University and her
BA from the University of Vermont. Prior to joining ICG in August, she worked for 4 years as an analyst of Central Asian political developments for the Institute for the Study of Conflict, Ideology, and Policy at Boston
University.
