| Ustina Markus
Dr. Ustina Markus completed a PhD on Soviet counterinsurgency doctrine at the London School of Economics in 1991. Afterwards she worked as an analyst at the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Research Institute in Munich, and later as a senior analyst at its successor institute, OMRI, in Prague. From 1998-2000 Dr. Markus worked at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency in the US Department of Defense. She has authored numerous articles on developments in the former Soviet Union, co-auuthored a book on the nuclear disarmement in the former Soviet Union, and is a co-editor of an annual series on defense and security in the former eastern bloc countries. << back
