International Crisis Group 2003 Award Dinner and Performance

On Thursday, 9 October 2003 ICG will host its first large scale fundraising event in New York City The event will be a dinner and concert/performance with approximately 800 guests in attendance.

ICG's Chairman, President Martti Ahtisaari, will recognise the extraordinary contribution made by George Soros to the prevention and resolution of deadly conflict around the world by presenting him with the first ICG Fred Cuny Award, named after the internationally renowned American humanitarian aid activist and a founding father of ICG.

Academy Award-nominated composer Philip Glass (The Hours) will produce the entertainment and perform with artists including Bono (U2), Emmy Lou Harris and others now being confirmed. We will honour George Soros with what we intend to be a biennial award - designed for us by sculptor Robert Graham - named the ICG Fred Cuny Award for the Prevention of Deadly Conflict. We will also be honouring Morton Abramowitz with a one time Founder's Award: Board member Elliott Kulick's wife, a sculptor, has generously offered to make the award. ABC News anchor, Peter Jennings, will be a special guest for the evening.

For more information on attending please see contact Amy Hunter at [email protected] or on +1 212 217 0247.
