International Crisis Group Annual Report 2000
ICG's Annual Report 2000 sets out the organisation's accomplishments during 1999 and plans for 2000. It also contains audited financial statements for the financial year ending 30 June 1999.

Among the highlights of 1999:

  • ICG published 54 policy reports and briefing papers (compared with 44 in 1998) - of which about one third dealt with the crisis in Kosovo and implications for regional stability, one third with other Balkans-related issues and one third with Africa and Asia.

  • ICG secured the financial backing of eighteen national governments and intergovernmental organisations (compared with fourteen in 1998).

  • ICG's website,www.crisisweb.org established itself as one of the most visited NGO websites in the world and a leading source of analysis for government officials, military planners, diplomats, journalists and aid workers. (The site recorded more than one million visits in 1999, compared with 175,000 in 1998).

Among ICG's plans for 2000:

  • A major new regional program of analysis and advocacy in Asia, centred on Indonesia.

  • Exploratory missions to Central Asia, the Caucasus and Burma to investigate the feasibility and utility of future ICG projects there.

  • An expansion of ICG's capacity to reach and influence key policymakers - with the appointment of senior new staff in Brussels and Washington DC, a more substantive role for members of the Board, and more frequent advocacy initiatives, such as seminars, press conferences and briefing sessions.
